Education & Awareness Workshops

It is our experience that attention to Human Factors issues is vital to ensure successful implementation of any project. This is especially true for EDM as it can involve such a major shift in the way of working. Education & Awareness Workshops enable all interested parties to discuss the technology and its potential benefits in relation to their particular business needs and the processes to follow in a focussed and confidential environment.

The purpose of this exercise is to:

1. Provide education and awareness of EDM to all relevant staff to ensure their understanding of the reasons for looking at EDM and workflow and the potential benefits both commercially and in terms of staff satisfaction, and thus promote informed participation in the processes to follow.
    
2. To allay staff fears and uncertainties and to manage their expectations of what EDM and workflow can and cannot do.
    
3. To listen to the business imperatives of the staff concerned and the paper usage patterns of their departments, and to relate these to the capabilities of the technology.

Method

Joy Allison designs specially tailored education and awareness workshops. Joy is a qualified teacher and is responsible for our Human Factors consultancy. She has produced similar programmes for a number of clients, including Wigan Council, Sanctuary Housing Association, North Herts District Council Environmental Services and West of Scotland Water Engineering Services.

The workshops last approximately 2½ hours each. The sessions include presentations on EDM and workflow and a brief demonstration of an EDM system to illustrate the concepts.

Because of the interactive nature of the workshops, numbers would ideally not exceed 20 people.
